Interested in becoming a Referee?

The training is FREE and upon completion we will order you an official referee shirt.  To register for referee courses, please contact [email protected]

Here's all the steps to get certified as an AYSO Regional referee:

1. Be at least 12 years old.

2. Sign up as a volunteer at ayso51.org  Select Referee (if 18 and over) or Youth Referee (if under 18).
     Volunteer Sign up Steps.pdf

3. Go to http://aysou.org and login with the same login you used at ayso51.org

4. Go to My Courses and take the following courses:
- AYSO's Safe Haven
- CDC: Concussion Course
- Regional Referee Training
- AYSO's Summary of the Laws of the Game (Recommended)

5. Sign up for the Regional Referee Online Companion Course (under Instructor Led Courses -> Referee Instructor Led Courses
- We will be holding local courses periodically but you can attend any course to fulfill the requirement

6. Attend the Regional Referee Online Companion Course.  This course is required and will have a test.

It looks like a lot of training, but most volunteers complete all the requirements in around 6-8 hours and most of that is online instruction you can take on your own schedule.

Report your availability to be on the schedule.
We will have a form soon to use.  For now contact [email protected] with availability.

You can take the online courses at any time, but must complete the Regional Referee Training online course before attending the Regional Referee Online Companion course and taking the Referee Exam.

Contact the Referee Administrator at [email protected] if you have any questions!  Or [email protected]

As a reminder:  All Referees are required to take the new Concussion Training

Utah Law requires every Referee to take the concussion training. This in addition to the Safe Haven training is two of the most critical training's we can provide our volunteers. I am making this priority number one in the spring season because I want our children to be in the safest possible environment around. I ask that you support me in this goal to get 100% Concussion and safe haven training completed for all volunteers by the start of every season.  I can assure you that this training is critical for all so that we can help identify signs, assist in corrective steps to get the players back on the pitch and most importantly learn how to prevent concussions. If you have any questions regarding this new mandate training please contact our Safety Director.

Thanks
